THINNING EYEBROWS

Eyebrows frame the face but for millions of women their eyebrows become thin or disappear all together.  For many this is very distressing.  Some women are born with fine hair and their eyebrows have never been well shaped but for others thinning eyebrows can be caused by a number of factors.

What causes thinning eyebrows?

Many women of a certain age used to pluck their eyebrows to a very thin line when they were younger and their brows have responded by refusing to grow back.  Rubbing eyebrows from habit or over zealous use of an eyebrow pencil can also contribute to their loss.  Eyebrows can also thin with age as does scalp hair.

These are the causes that get most of the blame but did you know there are other causes?

Endocrine imbalance  such as  Hypothyroidism, or Pregnancy. Medication some medications can cause hair loss. Autoimmune disorders such as Lupus Erythematosus. This can result in patchy hair loss. Also Alopecia Areata. Hair is specifically targeted by the body for destruction with this distressing condition. Common skin conditions such as Seborrhea, Psoriasis, Atopic Dermatitis and Eczema. Chemotherapy can cause hair loss which compounds the misery for cancer sufferers.

How does lack of eyebrow hair impact on life?

Many women feel embarassed by the lack of hair.  Mornings can be spent trying to get the right shape so that both brows look the same.  As eyesight fails this becomes harder and harder. Holidays aren’t so enjoyable as time spent in the pool results in loss of carefully applied make-up.  Exercise at the gym becomes stressful as eyebrows disappear under a flow of sweat from the brow.  Some women jump out of bed early in the morning so their partner or husband does not see them before they have carefully applied their make-up.

Some women have brow hair but the shape is not perfect and they just desire beautifully shaped brows – and why shouldn’t they?

Addressing the problem

The way that I can help is by offering natural looking permanent make-up eyebrow treatments carried out with hair stroke effect.

This is a form of tattoo with the pigment implanted just under the skin’s surface. The shade is chosen according to the client’s colouring and desired look.  Eyebrows are drawn on before the procedure begins and the shape agreed.   Everyone is different and each treatment is individual for that person.

Treatment top ups are recommended every 12 – 18 months to maintain the colour.

Does it work?

Time after time I have been told that it has changed someone’s life.  They have more time in the morning or they have more confidence, they are not worried about their make-up rubbing off during the day, they can swim or play sport……………..the list goes on.
